What we do
The Treviso Tissue Bank Foundation – TTBF - is a non-profit healthcare organisation tasked with procuring, processing, preserving, validating and distributing original human tissue for clinical use, and with certifying the suitability and safety of the organs and tissues made available (in accordance with Italian Legislative Decree 191 of 6/11/2007).
Set up by the Veneto Regional Authorities with resolution no. 3948/2000, TTBF is specialised in the procurement of heart tissues, valve segments, osteo-tendinous (bone and tendons) and amniotic membrane. It operates in the healthcare units of Italy's Triveneto and Marche regions, distributing these homologous tissues throughout Italy and beyond.
The Treviso Tissue Bank Foundation – TTBF:
works with hospitals to ensure accurate identification of potential donors, facilitating the work of medical and nursing staff in the selection and organisation of the tissue donation process
carries out tissue harvesting in compliance with strict protocols in the operating theatres of the hospitals belonging to the system. The harvesting team is made up of specialist medical and nursing personnel
processes and assesses all donated tissues in dedicated laboratories certified for sterility and safety in compliance with national regulations
ensures low-temperature preservation of the donated tissues using freezing and cryopreservation techniques. Harvested material may also undergo freeze-drying and demineralisation
distributes homologous tissues ready for transplantation
trains healthcare personnel in correct potential donor selection procedures
works alongside healthcare personnel to develop clinical projects.
