To improve the quality of life for patients needing homologous tissues by obtaining tissues suitable for transplantation. To facilitate and promote donation as a well-pondered decision by means of educational and training services and activities. To promote schemes for research and innovation |
The Tissue Bank’s management has strongly supported research and development activities either directly by conducting research with various partners at other hospitals and/or universities, or indirectly by supporting all the specialists wishing to use the Tissue Bank’s services for clinical research purposes.
Some of the most significant R&D activities include:
- 2008 Ministry-funded research project on "Improvement of the clinical performance of preserved cardiac valve homografts" in cooperation with Padua hospital’s cardiac surgery department, directed by Prof. Gino Gerosa
- 2008 Preclinical study “Chondrocyte expansion”, managed by Dr. Adolfo Paolin
- 2008 European project “Euro GTPs – Guide to European Good Tissue Practices” – the Treviso Tissue Bank was responsible for WP6 – Cardiovascular tissues
- 2008 Open trial on “Lyophilized amniotic membrane extract (AMX) for the treatment of ocular surface disorders”, managed by Dr. Adolfo Paolin
- 2007 Multicenter study on “Prospective study on the anatomical and functional outcome of using tissue bank pericardium for the treatment of female genital prolapse” managed by Dr. Adolfo Paolin
